Owen Wilson is being thrust back into the spotlight as Loki premieres today on Disney+. Now there are rumblings that a Wedding Crashers 2 movie is in early development.
What was once a rumor has now grown to be a possible reality as Wilson recently spoke with Access Hollywood and said, “If we’re able to come up with a story that we think has a chance to be really good, then maybe we’ll do it.” In another interview, this time with Collider, he said, “Yeah, there is a script and David Dobkin – who directed the first one – has been working on it, and we’ve been talking about it.”
So why did these rumors of a sequel come out of the blue 16 years later? Well, a West Hollywood news source called Production Weekly listed Wedding Crashers 2 in their weekly newsletter that went out June 2nd. It states they will begin filming in Puerto Rico this August, with Wilson, Vaughn, McAdams, and Fischer listed to return. With the page being verified on Twitter, it’s they are viewed as a credible source, hints all the recent buzz.
The 2005 hit comedy was jam-packed with huge stars such as Vince Vaughn, Isla Fischer, Rachel McAdams, Christopher Walken, and Jane Seymour. Perhaps one of the biggest gifts that comes from this film was that it introduced the world to Bradley Cooper. Many fans are eager to see the whole gang back on screen but until there is an official statement from the production company, we can only hope that this film is very much in the works.
