Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story released a sneak peek Wednesday morning on Twitter for the upcoming musical. The sneak peek shows Spielberg offering a toast to his crew and expressing gratitude for being able to make the film so late in his career before showing preview footage focusing on Rachel Zegler’s character.
West Side Story is a musical based on two teenagers from different ethnic backgrounds falling in love during the 1950s New York City scene amidst gang violence over turf. The film is an adaptation of the 1961 West Side Story, which went on to win 10 Academy Awards, including Best Picture.
West Side Story stars Ansel Elgort, Rachel Zegler and features Rita Moreno, who won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress on the original West Side Story. West Side Story will be released in theaters only on December 10.
