NBCUniversal Sets Global Launch For ‘Sharknado 2’
NBCUniversal won’t be making overseas viewers wait for the premiere of Sharknado 2 for too long.
International Syfy channels will show the much-anticipated TV movie Sharknado 2: The Second One within 24 hours of its US premiere. The sequel will appear in 86 countries, including the U.K., Australia, Asia, France, Germany and Latin America.
“Wherever possible we like to ensure that our international Syfy channels premiere big event programs alongside the U.S.,” commented Steve Patscheck, Universal Networks Intl.’s exec VP of programming.
“Based on the breakout success of the original – and the instant swell of enthusiasm on social media – we wanted to make ‘Sharknado 2′ an immediate experience for international Syfy viewers from Europe and Latin America to Asia Pacific.”
In the sequel a freak weather system turns its deadly fury on New York City, unleashing a ‘sharknado’ on the city’s population and its most iconic sites.
The film will reunite stars Ian Ziering and Tara Reid, who were last seen fighting off sharks in Los Angeles, and Sharknado writer Thunder Levin and director Anthony C. Ferrante.
Kelly Osbourne, Judd Hirsch, Andy Dick, Judah Friedlander, Matt Lauer, Al Roker, and many more will make cameos in Sharknado 2: The Second One.
The film will debut in the US this summer on July 30th on Syfy.
