Michael Keaton Wants ‘Beetlejuice 2’

Michael Keaton sat down to discuss his role in RoboCop in an interview with Today, but he quickly changed the subject to discuss his roles in 1988’s Beetlejuice and 1989’s Batman.

He wants to return for Beetlejuice 2, but only if director Tim Burton retuns as well. He claims Beetlejuice 2 is the only sequel he wants to do.

Last month, Keaton revealed he has been discussing a sequel to Beetlejuice with Burton and writer Seth Grahme-Smith, but nothing has been made official.

“I’ve been talking about it for years and I’ve been saying if I ever did anything again, it’d be that. I want to do that. The rumors, they’ve risen before and fallen away. Now, if Tim is involved, and I think he might be involved, I’d be more than interested. I mean, he’s so original, and he’s an artist. It’s unique. There’s nothing like it. You can’t compare it to anything. It has to be done right.”

Keaton then switched the topic to Ben Affleck taking on the role of Bruce Wayne/Batman in Batman vs. Superman. He does not understand why fans have been giving such negative comments towards Affleck’s casting.

“He’s going to be great. I don’t follow it much, but I guess there was some sort of … I don’t know why people get excited about things. Frankly, I don’t understand it.”

Keaton added Beetlejuice 2 has to be done right in order for him to sign on. However with Tim Burton on board, it seems very unlikely that he would turn down the chance to once again play the title character in Beetlejuice.

It has been 27 years since Beetlejuice, here’s to hoping for a sequel in the near future.
