Actor Michael Cera has turned down the role in Warner Bros.’ Harry Potter spinoff Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them to voice Batman’s sidekick, Robin, in the studio’s animated movie LEGO Batman.
The Hollywood Reporter revealed that the Chris McKay-directed feature would see the return of Will Arnett, who previously voiced Batman in The LEGO Movie.
The original film broke February records when it debuted with $69 million domestically, and received roughly $470 million since its February 2014 release. LEGO Movie directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller will stay on the project as producers, along with Dan Lin and Roy Lee. Dark Shadow’s Seth Grahame-Smith will pen the script.
Cera will next be featured in a voice-starring role in Seth Rogen’s animated Sausage Party, set to open August 16th. The actor is currently writing and starring in Netflix’s revival of Arrested Development, in which he and Arnett have formerly worked on together.
Warner Bros.’ LEGO Batman is scheduled to hit theaters in February 10th, 2017.
