Melanie Griffith, the mother of Dakota Johnson, is more than thrilled that her daughter has been cast as Anastasia Steele in the much anticipated film adaptation of E.L James’ erotic novel Fifty Shades of Grey.
Griffith posted on her Twitter, “My beautiful child Dakota has been chosen to play Anna Steele in 50 Shades!!! Look out world! Here she comes!!
The apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. Griffith had her own fair share of risqué roles as a young actress. She appeared nude in 1975’s Night Moves when she was just a teenager. In 1984, when she played a porn star in Brian De Palma’s Body Double.
Alongside Johnson, Charlie Hunnam will play billionaire Christian Grey in the upcoming film.
Fifty Shades of Grey is set to hit theaters on August 1, 2014.
