Marvel Filming ‘Avengers 2’ in South Korea

Marvel Studios is currently finalizing details to shoot parts of “Avengers 2” in South Korea.

The studio and the Korean Film Council (KOFIC) are set to sign a pact next week in Seoul to ensure cooperation from the local government to film “Avengers: Age of Ultron” at various South Korean landmarks.

Many parts of the film will be shot in the Gangnam district, made internationally famous by South Korean singer Psy. Locations include the Cheongdam Bridge, Teheran Boulevard, and Gangnam Station, in addition to the Han River, which cuts through the heart of Seoul, as well as the landmark Jamsil and Mapo Bridges.

The Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency will be prepared to cooperate with the studio since filming will take place in some of the city’s most crowded and traffic-heavy areas. The film’s presence of A-list stars, including Scarlett Johansson, Robert Downey Jr, Chris Evans and other cast members are expected to attract swarms of fans.

Parts of the film will be shot from March 20 to April 12 in Seoul, but the bulk of shooting will take place in London, the U.S. and Italy.

“Avengers: Age of Ultron” opens in theaters May 1, 2015.
