Blowing its competition out of the water, “Man of Steel” has proven to be the biggest film opening ever in the month of June, earning $125 million during its debut weekend. “This is the End” opened to almost $92 million less than Superman reboot with $20.5 million on its opening weekend.
“Now You See Me” holds onto third place with $10.3 million while horror flick “The Purge” drops down to the number 5 spot. The Ethan Hawke fronted film has already made a profit of almost $50 million in its second week of release. “The Purge” had a modest budget of just $3 million.
“Iron Man 3” clings onto 10th place after 7 weeks in theaters with $400 million, while “Fast & Furious 6” and “Star Trek Into Darkness” still going strong as well with over $200 million each.
