Leonardo DiCaprio To Play Steve Jobs?
Leonardo DiCaprio could be playing the role of Steve Jobs in an upcoming film based on the Apple Computer co-founder.
Director Danny Boyle, Academy Award winner for Slumdog Millionaire, is currently in talks with Sony Pictures who have acquired the rights for Walter Isaacson’s bestselling biography Steve Jobs shortly after his death in 2011.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, The Social Network director David Fincher was previously attached to direct the film before Boyle, however “fell out of the project due to his aggressive demands for compensation and control.” He wanted Christian Bale to play the leading role, though Boyle sought for the Wolf of Wall Street actor to play Jobs instead. Both he and DiCaprio have teamed up before on 2000’s The Beach.
The biopic is to be produced by Scott Rudin and written by Aaron Sorkin, who worked on 2010’s The Social Network with Fincher.
Though nothing is set in stone quite yet, it seems as if DiCaprio’s intended “long break” from acting may be cut short.
