Academy Award-winning actress Kate Winslet is set to star as Elizabeth “Lee” Miller, an American fashion model, artist and war correspondent, in an upcoming untitled drama.
Troy Lum and Andrew Mason of Hopscotch Features (Adore, Saving Mr. Banks, The Water Diviner) will produce the film, which is based on her son Antony Penrose’s biography, The Lives of Lee Miller. The producers were granted exclusive access to the Lee Miller Archives, which are curated and managed by Penrose and include all of Miller’s photos and diaries.
The drama will document Miller’s life and give us a glimpse of her extraordinary moments as a model and a photographer.
In the 1920s, Miller started her career as a fashion model in New York City before becoming a muse and collaborator to artists, such as Man Ray and Picasso. Shortly after, she became an art photographer, but distinguished herself in Europe as a war photographer for Vogue during World War II.
Winslet can be seen opposite Michael Fassbender in Universal’s Steve Jobs as Apple marketing whiz, Joanna Hoffman (October 23rd).
