Joss Whedon Announces Details to ‘The Avengers: Age of Ultron’

Joss Whedon leaked the anticipated Marvel news this weekend when he announced the title of the Avengers sequel, Avengers: Age of Ultron, to the crowd at San Diego Comic Con International. The film is still two years away, but that did not stop him from sharing details to the crowd including the film’s plot and characters

According to ComingSoon.net, when asked by a fan how this film would differ from the first, Whedon responded that “it’s a little bit darker than the other film. Because Ultron is in the house, there’s a science fiction element that I think is a little bit stronger than the other film.”

According to Whedon, Ultron was an obvious choice for a villian stating that “He [Ultron] has been THE Avengers’ villain for so long, I was amazed anybody was surprised it was going to be him in a movie.”

Whedon told fans he had more fun writing one of the returning characters, Hawkeye, over the new ones “because he [Hawkeye] did get possessed pretty early by a bad guy and sort of had to walk around scowlingly for most of the movie last time. So now it’s nice to actually have the character there and really see him interact with the other guys.”

Whedon also confirmed production for Age of Ulton to begin at the “end of February, beginning of March [2014]… London will be the base for Avengers 2.”

Avengers: Age of Ultron will open in theaters on May 1, 2015.
