Josh Gad Set to Co-write and Star In ‘Gilligan’s Island’ Movie

Josh Gad, The Book of Mormon Broadway star and voice of Frozen‘s snowman Olaf, will co-write and star in a Warner Bros. movie adaptation of the 1960’s television comedy series Gilligan’s Island.

Gilligan’s Island, which ran for three seasons on CBS from 1964-1967, followed the story of seven castaways who became stranded on deserted Pacific Island after their charter boat was caught in a tropical storm. The original series was created by Sherwood Schwartz, who died in 2011.

Sherwood’s children, Lloyd and Ross Schwartz, will serve as executive producers on the movie, along with Tracy and Cathy Silvers.  Josh Gad, Benji Samit and Dan Hernandez are currently working on the script.

It has not yet been announced which character Gad will play, but the title character [Gilligan] or Skipper seem to be possibilities.
