Jurassic World already has been given the green light for production and Universal Pictures has an official release date set for the film, but the lead role for Jurassic World has yet to be filled.
Sources says that the studio is considering Josh Brolin to play the lead role in Jurassic World, but he has yet to receive an official offer from Universal. Brolin is expected to say yes to an offer when it is sent by the studio “shortly,” according to TheWrap.
The only confirmed cast member at the moment is 12-year-old Iron Man 3 actor Ty Simpkins, who confirmed that he “booked a lead role” in the film. Jake Johnson from New Girl and Twilight actress Bryce Dallas Howard have been rumored as possible cast members for the film as well.
It has been 14 years since Jurassic Park III was released in theaters in 2001. Steven Spielberg will return as producer for the fourth installment of the Jurassic Park franchise along with Colin Trevorrow as director. Trevorrow recently directed 2012’s Safety Not Guaranteed. The 37-year-old director relealizes how much fans love the franchise and will make sure that the fourth installment will be just as amazing and successful as the previous three films.
“We are very aware of how much a certain generation especially cares about this movie and we talk about it all the time and really the conversation is: It’s not about us, it’s not about our careers, it’s how do we make something that can stand with the first one,” Trevorrow said in an interview back in July.
Jurassic World is set to open in theaters on June 12, 2015.
