During an interview with BBC’s Breakfast, Johnny Depp revealed that his plans to leave acting behind to focus on his other passions will be happening sooner rather than later. While The Lone Ranger star has indicated in the past that he was considering winding down his acting career, this is the first time he has discussed his eventual retirement.
“I wouldn’t say I am dropping out any second but I would say it’s not too far away,” Depp told BBC’s Susanna Reid. “At a certain point you start thinking and when you add up the amount of dialogue you say per year and you realize you’ve said written words more than you’ve had a chance to say your own words.”
In an interview with Rolling Stone magazine back in June, the Oscar nominated actor hinted at retirement when he said, “I can’t say I’d want to be doing this for another 10 years.”
Johnny Depp fans shouldn’t worry just yet. The 50-year-old actor is currently gearing up to star in at least five more films in the next few years, including a film adaptation of Into the Woods, the historical crime drama Mortdecai, and a sci-fi action/drama film titled Transcendence. He is also rumored to return as the role of Mad Hatter in Alice In Wonderland 2.
