John Williams Greets Fans Playing ‘Star Wars’ Theme Outside His Home

Last week, two men decided to play the Star Wars theme outside the house of the song’s composer John Williams and ended up receiving quite a surprise.

Thirteen year old trumpeter Bryce Hayashi and his mentor, flugelhorn player Michael “Mickle” Miller, were playing the tune on the sidewalk outside of Williams’ house when the five-time Oscar winning composer stepped outside to greet them and shake their hands.

Upon approaching them, Williams stated that he heard them playing and didn’t think the young trumpeter would be able to hit the high notes, but he did.

Miller told the Associated Press that the idea to play outside the composer’s home was “wild and crazy.” He also revealed it was the first time the two perfectly performed the tune.

Williams’ career  has spanned over six decades, which include writing the scores for Star Wars, Jaws, E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial, Indiana Jones, Jurassic Park, and more.
