It looks like everyone’s favorite secret agent will be hitting the silver screen in a big, big way–IMAX!
Though Skyfall will be the next release in the Bond saga, it is the first of the franchise to ever be seen in IMAX. This decision comes from Co-Chairman and Chief Executive Officers of MGM, Gary Barber and Roger Birnbaum, who wanted to celebrate “the 50th Anniversary of the James Bond Franchise in a larger-than-life” way.
Despite this exciting news for 007 and his fans, critics have already started lining up at the door. Skyfall was not actually shot in IMAX; the movie will be digitally remastered to fit the big screen, thus resulting in early critics calling director Sam Mendes’ vision “half baked.” Skyfall will mark Daniel Craig’s third appearance as James Bond, who will be joined by co-stars Javier Bardem, Ralph Fiennes, Judi Dench and Naomie Harris.
Skyfall will be released over seas on Oct. 26, and in America on Nov. 9, 2012.
