Jake Gyllenhaal Will Lead ‘Oblivion Song’

It was reported today that actor Jake Gyllenhaal has signed on as the lead actor in the upcoming film adaptation of Oblivion SongThis is yet another project from the mind of Robert Kirkman, a very busy creator over at Image Comics. The 10+ season run of The Walking Dead? Created by Kirkman. Amazon Prime’s animated smash hit series Invincible? Created by Robert Kirkman. Now another one of his projects has made its way to production.

Kirkman’s 2018 ongoing comic series contains all the hallmarks of a longstanding sci-fi classic. Alien invasions. Time Travel. A post-apocalyptic setting. Rescue missions and more.

Jake Gyllenhaal will star as Nathan Cole, a skilled search and rescue man who traverses time and space daily to save people from a hellish landscape. The story takes place in Philadelphia, PA. Many sections of the historic city were lost over a decade ago. Nathan must save as many of the 300,000 lost souls as he can while coming face to face with extra-terrestrials, monsters, and those who created the Oblivion Song.

Jake Gyllenhaal will also produce the film with Nine Stories (The Devil All The Time) after a first-look deal with New Republic Pictures.
