Is the Making of the Film for Best-Selling Video Game “BioShock” Cursed?

In 2007, the now Award winning video game BioShock was released by 2K studios.  Since 2007, a sequel has been released and a third installment, BioShock Infinite, will be released in early 2013.  After all the success BioShock received, an announcement was made in 2009 that a feature film adaptation for the silver screen was in the making through Universal and was to be released in 2010.

Since this announcement, the movie has been nothing short of a train wreck.  For the games cult-like following, many blogs from fans can be found metaphorically screaming in disappointment on the release for the movie and up to date details.

The movie has had problems since day 1.  Bickering back and forth from 2K and Universal started almost immediately. Originally Gore Verbinski (The Ring, Pirates of the Caribbean trilogy) was to direct the film alongside John Logan (Gladiator) writing the screenplay.  Within months, Verbinski and Logan dropped the project. Since then, several A-list directors and writers have been signed to the project and then mysteriously dropped without giving the press any definitive answers on their decisions.

Is this movie cursed? Will it ever be made? According to IMDB.com, the film is still in pre-production.  As of now, fans can only hope that the movie finally makes it to the big screen.
