Chuck Palahniuk announced at Comic-Con that he will be working on a sequel to his bestselling novel and widely influential film, Fight Club.
Palahniuk revealed the plot of the soon to be “dark and messy” graphic novel by saying, “It will update the story ten years after the seeming end of Tyler Durden. Nowadays, Tyler is telling the story, lurking inside Jack, and ready to launch a come-back. Jack is oblivious. Marla is bored. Their marriage has run aground on the rocky coastline of middle-aged suburban boredom. It’s only when their little boy disappears, kidnapped by Tyler, that Jack is dragged back into the world of Mayhem.”
Due to previous contractual obligations the series will more than likely remain on hold due to Palahniuk’s busy schedule. It is possible that the sequel could be released as early as 2015.
Also, since Palahniuk still has to “hammer out the complete story,” he has yet to officially sign with a publisher for the series. He has reportedly met with DC, Marvel and Dark Horse as potential partners for the upcoming sequel.
There is no word on whether a film based on the upcoming sequel will be produced.
