‘Hunger Games’ Franchise Wraps Up Filming
The Hunger Games franchise has officially wrapped up filming the final installment Mockingjay: Part 2, as members from the cast and crew give thanks via their social media accounts.
Producer Nina Jacobson shared a photo on Twitter showing lead stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, and Liam Hemsworth in an emotional group hug. She writes in an additional post, “Goodbye Berlin. With deepest thanks to our remarkable #Mockingjay cast and crew.”

British actor Sam Claflin, who joined the cast as Finnick Odair for last year’s Catching Fire, posted an emotional message on Twitter to express his feelings about filming coming to an end, writing, “I just want/need to express my many thanks to everyone (cast, crew & fans) who have worked so hard for so long to make The Hunger Games experience what it is. But for also trusting me enough to let me be part of it. I feel privileged, honoured and so very lucky to have shared this opportunity with so many passionate & talented people. #dreamjob @TheHungerGames @lionsgatemovies x.”
Willow Shields (Primrose Everdeen) shared on her Instagram a photo of her and a few cast members, with the caption reading: “Such a bittersweet moment… Mockingjay parts 1 & 2 have officially wrapped! This has been such a wonderful journey and I cannot wait till you see the films! What a huge part of my life and I wanna thank all of you beautiful people for supporting our series all the way! Are you excited or are you EXCITED to see Mockingjay?”
The final installments in the action film franchise, based on Suzanne Collins’ novels, have been taking place in the US and Europe since the beginning of the year.
The production was hit by tragedy in February when Academy Award winning actor Philip Seymour Hoffman, who played Plutarch Heavensbee, died of a drug overdose in New York City’s Greenwich Village.
Hoffman was said to have completed the majority of his scenes for the upcoming films, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2. The released dates for both films are expected to remain as is.
Mockingjay: Part 1 is due to be released in theaters November 21, 2014, with Part 2 following in 2015.
