Coming as no surprise, Houston-based rapper RiFF RAFF plans on suing the makers of Spring Breakers for identity theft. Since the film’s release in March 2013, RiFF RAFF had been making claims that James Franco had stolen his look and style for the film.
Jody Christian, aka RiFF RAFF, told Skee.TV in an interview back in March that Franco’s character is a rip-off of his rap persona and has stolen everything from his catchphrases to his jewelery, even his tattoos.
Now the rapper plans on suing the makers of Spring Breakers for an estimated $8 and 10 million dollars for the perceived identity theft. RiFF RAFF does admit that he likes the film, he just wishes the filmmakers would have compensated him for the use of his identity.
“It’s like if I have a front yard and you’re planting soil and you’re planting trees and building peaches and houses and selling parking lots on my property then I deserve to be compensated for some portion of that money,” RiFF RAFF stated.
RiFF RAFF posted a picture on Instagram of Franco’s character to compare the similarities:
James Franco then re-posted the picture with the caption ” Film Game RiFF Raff” as shown in the picture above.
RiFF RaFF announced in a tweet to his followers that he would do two free shows, a BBQ/pool party and a rave foam party if he wins the settlement against Spring Breakers.
