First Look: ‘Pirates Of The Caribbean – Dead Men Tell No Tales’
Ahoy, matey! Those who tuned in to the season finale of AMC’s Fear the Walking Dead got an extra special treat. It didn’t involve zombies, but it did involve “dead men.” Walt Disney Studios used the finale to debut the first teaser trailer for Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales. Johnny Depp reprises his role of Captain Jack Sparrow in the fifth installment of the successful PotC franchise, based on the theme park ride. Having already reclaimed his precious Black Pearl ship; recovered the heart of Davy Jones; ventured to the World’s End; and searched for the Fountain of Youth, you’d think Capt. Sparrow’s seafaring adventures were done.
Not hardly. Six years after Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, Sparrow is on a quest to find the trident of Poseidon. Orlando Bloom returns as Will Turner as does Geoffrey Rush as Barbossa. New to the series is Javier Bardem (No Country for Old Men, Skyfall) as Captain Salazar. As a franchise, Pirates of the Caribbean has grossed more than $3.7 billion worldwide. Based on characters created by Ted Elliott and Terry Rossio, the latest adventure comes from Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg, who previously helmed 2013’s Kon-Tiki.
Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales arrives in theaters May 26, 2017 in 3D, RealD 3D and IMAX 3D formats.
