‘Ghostbusters’ Reboot Hires New Writer
The Ghostbusters reboot has signed on Katie Dippold, writer for the action comedy The Heat, to reteam with The Heat and Bridesmaids’ director Paul Feig for the upcoming blockbuster.
The director posted on Twitter on Wednesday (October 8th) officially confirming that he has decided to give the reboot a complete makeover, and that it will star “hilarious women.”

Director of the first two Ghostbusters, Ivan Reitman, was once attached to helm the reboot, with hopes to bring the original team (Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray, Harold Ramis) back together. However, following Ramis’ death earlier this year, Reitman decided to step down from the director’s chair.
Once Feig came on board in August, the director decided to rejuvenate the reboot altogether with an all-new script. He proclaimed that the project would no longer be connected to any of the previous films, and instead will be focused on a female squad. Although Murray doesn’t plan on being included, he did offer some casting suggestions on who he thought would be perfect for the film. Names like Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy and Emma Stone have been thrown around for casting but no official details have been confirmed.
The director enlisted the help of Dippold, who just finished penning a sequel for The Heat, to assist him in making this Ghostbusters reboot one to remember. Rietman will still remain involved with the film as producer.
