Godfather director Francis Ford Coppola is planning a MASSIVE new project. Although the title and synopsis of the film have yet to be released, the film will be set in New York throughout several decades of the mid-twentieth century.
Coppola spoke of the new Paramount film to EW saying:
I have a secret investor that has infinite money. I learned what I learned from my three smaller films, and wanted to write a bigger film. I’ve been writing it. It’s so ambitious so I decided to go to L.A. and make a film out of a studio that has all the costume rentals, and where all the actors are. My story is set in New York. I have a first draft. I’m really ready for a casting phase. Movies are big in proportion to the period. It starts in the middle of the ‘20s, and there are sections in the ‘30s and the late ‘40s, and it goes until the late ‘60s.
Films that jump through many decades in history can often end up disorganized and confusing. Thus, in my opinion, was the case in The Wachowskis new film Cloud Atlas.
But, if anyone can complete the task, that man is Francis Ford Coppola. The legendary filmmaker has already cemented himself as creating possibly the greatest film series of all time, The Godfather Trilogy, and with hits such as Apocalypse Now and Patton (screenwriter), Coppola upcoming film is sure to be a hit!
