First Teaser for ‘Snowden’ Released

The first teaser trailer for Oliver Stone’s upcoming film Snowden was released today.

The teaser does not feature any dialogue nor any scenes from the movie. Instead, as a slow rendition of “This Little Light of Mine” plays, text appears on the screen describing moments of Edward Snowden’s life: “Army recruit at 20 … joined CIA at 22 … NSA contractor at 26 … by age 29, the most wanted man in the world.”

The teaser trailer then concludes with an image of an upside-down American flag with text appearing on it: “One nation, under surveillance, for liberty and justice for all.”

Joseph Gordon-Levitt stars in the title role alongside Shailene Woodley, Melissa Leo, Zachary Quinto, Tom Wilkinson, Nicolas Cage, and Rhys Ifans.

Snowden is slated to hit theaters December 25.
