First Look: Disney’s Live-Action ‘Cinderella’

Cinderella

Walt Disney Studios just unveiled a new trailer and poster for Cinderella as the classic 1950s Disney animated masterpiece is brought to life by director Kenneth Branagh.

The live-action feature, inspired by the classic fairy tale Cinderella, is a visually-dazzling spectacle for a whole new generation. The live-action Cinderalla will star Lily James as Cinderella, Helena Bonham Carter as the fairy godmother, and Cate Blanchett as Lady Tremaine, the wicked stepmother.

Cinderella follows the fortunes of young Ella (Lily James) whose merchant father remarries following the death of her mother. The live-action version will help fill in the gaps of understanding how Cinderella came to be by getting to meet her parents, played by Hayley Atwell and Ben Chaplin. We also learn how Ella got the nickname “Cinderella” by her wicked step sisters.

Cinderella opens in theaters in March 2015.
