‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ Sold-Out in Houston, New York & Los Angeles
Fifty Shades of Grey has already sold out for opening weekend in many major U.S. cities.
The anticipated adaptation of E.L. James’ wildly popular erotic novel
has already sold out showings for Valentines day weekend in Houston, New York and Los Angeles according to ticketing website Fandango.com.
Fandango, the nation’s largest movie ticket company, has reported hundreds of sold out showings for the film nationwide beginning with the 8 p.m. showing on Thursday, February 12th through Valentines weekend. Presale tickets went on sale January 11th, but Fandango and Movietickets.com reported shows sold out nine days before the release of the film in Los Angeles, San Diego, Las Vegas, Houston, New York, Tupelo, Florence, and Chattanooga.
Presale rates were twice as high than expected in the southern states of Mississippi, Arkansas, West Virginia, Kentucky, Alabama and Louisiana. Mississippi topped the list with presale tickets sold four times higher than expected for Fifty Shades of Grey.
Theaters are continuing to add new screens and showings to meet the demands for Valentines day opening weekend.
