The first official trailer for Fifty Shades of Grey’s sequel, Fifty Shades Darker, debuted this past Wednesday – and it gathered a great number of views!
In just 24 hours, the 2-minute long trailer racked up 114 million views across all digital platforms, which included YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, etc, according to Universal. More than 39.4 million views were from the U.S. and the remaining 74.6 million views were from international markets, primarily the U.K. and Brazil.
After just a few hours of its release, the trailer collected more than 2.5 million views on Fifty Shades’ Facebook page alone, noted The Hollywood Reporter.
The holdover for the most views was previously held by Star Wars: The Force Awakens, which collected 112 million views online in 24 hours.
Fifty Shades Darker, adapted from E.L. James’ best-selling book series, brings back Jamie Dornan as Christian Grey and Dakota Johnson as Anastasia Steele. It will pick up after Anastasia leaves Christian.
