Vin Diesel and the whole crew return yet again for the sixth installment of The Fast and the Furious franchise with Justin Lin directing again as well. While definitely nothing new, it still does its job perfectly by being a fun action film. By the end of it, action film fans of the series and in general should be even more excited for the next one in the series, amazingly.
In FF6, Brian O’Connor (Paul Walker) has a newborn with wife Mia (Jordana Brewster) – seemingly out of the game for good. Its not until Luke Hobbs (Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson) comes to Dominic Toretto (Diesel) for help on stopping one bad mother named Shaw (Luke Evans). The rest of the then crew join up to stop Shaw through ridiculous means, more over the top than any film before it. The fim also stars Tyrese Gibson (who surprisingly is very funny this time), Ludacris, Michelle Rodriguez (back from the dead), Gina Carano (“Haywire”) and more (pretty people).
Fast & Furious 6 is definitely a summer action film that is worth seeing, with the seventh film coming out next summer (from the director of Saw and Insidious). The ending is one of the best of the series, setting up a mighty villain for the next film – making us all excited for what’s next to come. Audiences will be surprised at how acceptable the cheese ball lines and heavy action scenes (some with straight up WWE moves) are so late in the franchise. No complaints here, these movies bring it.
Fast & Furious 6 is now playing in theaters everywhere.
