The Mother of Dragons is heading to a galaxy far, far away.
It was announced Friday that Games of Thrones actress Emilia Clarke has joined the cast of the upcoming Star Wars standalone film centered around a young Han Solo.
Alden Ehrenreich and Donald Glover will play Han Solo and Lando Calrissian, respectively, in the currently untitled film which is set before the events of Star Wars – Episode IV: A New Hope. It is unknown who Clarke will portray.
“StarWars.com is excited to announce that Clarke, known for her stirring portrayal of Daenerys Targaryen in Game of Thrones, will join the upcoming untitled Han Solo Star Wars movie,” the announcement on StarWars.com reads. “Clarke’s role will round out a dynamic cast of characters that Han and Chewie will encounter on their adventures.”
It will be the second standalone film in the Star Wars franchise. The first, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, soars into theaters next month.
The young Han Solo film is slated to arrive in theaters in 2018. Phil Lord and Chris Miller will direct.
