Disney Has Five Year Franchise Plan for ‘Frozen’

Disney’s Frozen has been a tremendous success.  The film grossed over $1 billion worldwide and the soundtrack has sold 2.78 million copies, topping the Billboard chart a total of 13 times this year. Naturally, Disney wants to capitalize on the film’s popularity and keep up the excitement.

Disney’s CEO Bob Iger stated in a quarterly earnings conference call that Frozen is one of Disney’s top five franchises. “So you can expect us to take full advantage of that over the next at least five years,” Iger said.

Disney has definitely made it evident that they are going to keep the Frozen craze going. This past weekend Disney released a new music video for “Do You Want to Build A Snowman?” which had a new arrangement and was performed by 26 Disney Channel stars.

Check out the video below:

At Walt Disney World there is a For the First Time In Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration show. The live show occurs seven times per day at Disney’s Hollywood Studios and has families lining up outside for hours in the Florida heat just for the chance to sing-along with their favorite Frozen characters.

In addition, Disney recently released the Frozen karaoke album, which debuted in Billboard’s top 20. In late August/early September, Disney plans to release all kinds of new Frozen merchandise in stores. Some of the items include a Frozen Sing-Along Storybook, a Frozen Sing & Swing Olaf plush toy, and a Frozen Cool Tunes Sing-Along Boombox.

Disney on Ice presents Frozen will also be premiering this September in Orlando before embarking on a one-year North American tour. The Boadway production of Frozen is also in the works and a Frozen-themed ride is being developed for Disney’s Epcot theme park.
