Disney Developing Live Action Film About Snow White’s Sister
Disney has another live action Disney princess film in the works, except this time it centers around a character previously unknown to the Disney universe. The new film, titled Rose Red, will focus on Snow White’s sister.
Rose Red appeared in Grimms’ Fairy Tales in a story that has no relation to the tale that the 1937 Disney film Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is based on.
Justin Merz penned the original script of the film, and Snow White And The Huntsman writer Evan Daugherty will rework it.
The plot of the film will be a retelling of Snow White’s story with her sister being a part of the tale. After Snow White eats a poisoned apple that puts her into a deep sleep, Rose Red teams up with the dwarfs to find a way to break her sister’s curse.
The story of Snow White is the latest Disney tale to be remade into a live action film. In recent years, Disney released many live action adaptations, including Alice in Wonderland, Maleficent, and Cinderella. The studio also has multiple ones in the works, including Beauty and the Beast, Tink, and Mulan. The Jungle Book will be the next one to be released, hitting theaters on April 15, 2016.
