Director Fredrik Bond Quits ‘Olympus Has Fallen’ Sequel

THR is reporting that director Fredrik Bond has left production of the Olympus Has Fallen sequel due to creative differences. He joined the project in August and his departure comes a month before filming was scheduled to begin in England. Bond previously directed Shia LaBeouf in Charlie Countryman which received mixed reviews.

Titled London Has Fallen, the upcoming sequel follows the original film’s three main characters as they travel to London to attend the funeral of the British prime minister. The trio is then caught in the middle of a plot to kill all the world leaders.

Principal actors Morgan Freeman, Aaron Eckhart, Angela Bassett and Melissa Leo will begin filming at the end of October before production is paused prior to the Christmas break. Gerard Butler, who’s currently filming Geostorm, will join the production for phase two of filming from February to April of next year. He is producing the film alongside Alan Siegel, Mark Gill and Matt O’Toole.

Millennium claims they hope to have a new director within 72 hours.
