‘Taken 2’ took home $49.5 million during its opening weekend and it seems the franchise could get a third film. ‘Taken 2’ writers Luc Besson and Robert Mark Kamen hinted that ‘Taken 3’ may be in the works.
“We didn’t start talking about ‘Taken 3’ until we saw the numbers,” Kamen said about the possible upcoming film. “But then we said, ‘Oh, okay. I think we should do a third one.’ And Fox wants us to do a third one.”
“We’ve taken everyone we can take — it’s going to go in another direction,” Kamen added. “[It] should be interesting.”
The original ‘Taken’ film shocked critics when it opened in 2008 with a $24.7 million weekend. Both films follow Neeson’s character Bryan Mills, a retired CIA operative who is fighting to protect his family (played by Maggie Grace and Famke Janssen).
