Variety reports that Cody Cameron and Kris Pearn will direct Sony Animation’s “Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs 2,” if green-lit.
Once approved, the film will be the duo’s first major studio feature.
The duo would replace former “Meatballs” directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller who are currently working on pre-production of the “Lego” film, based on the children’s toy.
Cameron and Pearn are no newcomers to Sony Animation. Both were part of the first “Meatballs” film as a part of the story artists team.
Kirk Bodyfelt, who got his start as a production assistant on “Beauty and the Beast” is expected to produce the sequel. The script is being written by “Horrible Bosses” writers John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein.
Details of the storyline are currently being kept secret.
