Christoph Waltz is in talks to play the villain in the new, action-packed Warner Bros. film Tarzan. Waltz, who previously starred in Quentin Tarantino’s films Inglorious Basterds and Django Unchained, is in negotiations to play Captain Rom, a Belgian soldier who attempts to cash in a ransom for the capture of Tarzan, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
This movie will be quite different from other Tarzan movies in the past, because it will begin with Tarzan living in civilization before he returns to the jungle.
Director David Yates is still putting together his final cast for the movie. Alexander Skarsgard will play the role of Tarzan while Emma Stone and Margot Robbie are being considered for the role of Jane. Before the film was put on hold last Spring, Jamie Foxx was in talks to play the role of George Washington Williams, Tarzan’s sidekick and a veteran of the American Civil War. It is unclear if he is still interested in the role.
Tarzan is expected to be released in theaters in 2014.
