There is uncertainty surrounding the upcoming Batman vs. Superman film. The question of who will be playing the role of Batman remains unanswered.
Warner Bros has reportedly offered former Batman star Christian Bale a $50 million contract in hopes of his return, but the actor hasn’t budged.
The 39-year-old has repeatedly expressed his lack of interest in the new film, explaining: “We were incredibly fortunate to get to make three [Batman films]. That’s enough. Let’s not get greedy.”
“Chris [Nolan] always said he wanted to make it one film at a time. And we ended up sitting there looking at each other, saying, ‘We’re about to make the third.’ We never really knew if we were going to get to be there, but if that was how it was going to be, this was where it should end as well.”
Bale is under extraordinary pressure to return opposite Man of Steel’s Henry Cavill. If the actor doesn’t return, Orlando Bloom, Josh Brolin and Ryan Gosling are among the list of possible candidates for the role.
Batman vs. Superman is set for a 2015 release – filming begins early 2014.
