Channing Tatum Confirmed to Play Gambit In ‘X-Men’
Channing Tatum will play the role of Remy LaBeau, aka Gambit, in an upcoming X-Men spinoff.
When producer Lauren Shuler Donner was asked at the X-Men: Days of Future Past premiere in London who would play the role of Gambit, she told TotalFilm, “It is Channing. He’s a rogue, Channing, he’s a rascal, like Remy LaBeau, and he can handle the action, we all know that! And he’s got a really good heart.”
Tatum has told MTV in the past, “Gambit is the only X-Man I’ve ever loved. I mean, I’ve loved them all, they’re all great, but I guess just being from down South; my dad’s from Louisiana, I’m from Mississippi, Alabama, Florida. I don’t know, I just related to him … I would die to play him.”
Sources say that Tatum’s character will be introduced in X-Men: Apocalypse, and from there his stand alone spin-off will be made.
X-Men: Days of Future Past hits theaters Friday, May 23. X-Men: Apocalypse is scheduled to release on May 27, 2016.
