Jurassic World is almost open and ready for business!
Universal Picture’s major new release for this weekend, Jurassic World, is expected to rake in somewhere above $100 million across 4,273 theaters, with analysts tracking that it may even reach $125 million – or more! Thus far, the dinosaur-filled blockbuster has already grossed $17.3 million in China, making it the country’s sixth biggest foreign film debut of all time.
“We’re heading into the same territory where we were with ‘Avengers,’ where things are getting out of control with the numbers,” said Phil Contrino, vice president and chief analyst at BoxOffice.com. “It’s not a matter of whether or not people are interested. It’s how much they like it. Word-of-mouth will dictate how much it explodes.”
Meet JURASSIC WORLD Most Terrifying Dinosaur – Indominus Rex
Costing $150 million to produce, Jurassic World will be debuting 22 years after Steven Spielberg’s original Jurassic Park, which was released back in 1993 and grossed $357.1 million domestically.
The upcoming sequel, which will be the series’ fourth film to be released, currently holds a 69 percent “fresh” rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Below is the film’s official synopsis:
Twenty-two years after the events of Jurassic Park, Isla Nublar now features a fully functioning dinosaur theme park, Jurassic World, as originally envisioned by John Hammond. After 10 years of operation and visitor rates declining, in order to fulfill a corporate mandate, a new attraction is created to re-spark visitor’s interest, which backfires horribly.
Jurassic World stars Guardians of the Galaxy’s Chris Pratt as the central character, named Owen, who plays a skilled dinosaur trainer. Alongside Pratt, the Colin Trevorrow-directed film also stars Bryce Dallas Howard, Vincent D’Onofrio, Ty Simpkins, Nick Robinson and Omar Sy and Irrfan Khan. B.D. Wong is the only actor from any of the previous films to reprise his role.
The park opens June 12th. Visit www.jurassicworld.com for more information regarding safety procedures, the creation lab, the park map and more!
