‘Blade Runner’ Sequel Gets Official Title, Release Date
More details for the upcoming Blade Runner sequel have emerged!
The film’s official title is Blade Runner 2049, and it’s set to hit theaters exactly one year from today: October 6th, 2017.
The film’s title suggests that the sequel will take place thirty years after the original film, which was set in 2019. Entertainment Weekly reports the film’s “setting is once again a future dystopian Los Angeles.” Plot details are not yet known.
The cast for the new film includes Harrison Ford reprising his role as Rick Deckard from the original 1982 film along with Ryan Gosling, Jared Leto, Robin Wright, Mackenzie Davis, Ana de Armas, Dave Bautista, Lennie James, and Barkhad Abdi.
The official Blade Runner Twitter account also posted a photo from the set, showing Ford and Gosling with director Denis Villeneuve and Ridley Scott, the director of the original film:

It was also announced Thursday that Alcon Entertainment is teaming up with virtual reality company Oculus to release VR experiences related to the film around its release date.
