“Scatter My Ashes at Bergdorf’s” from documentary filmmaker Matthew Miele chronicles the high fashion world through the history and modern times of Manhattan’s Bergdorf Goodman. Through interviews of big name designers and beautiful celebrities, we are shown the history of the department store, as well as the social status symbol it represents. For what its worth, it is mildly interesting to audiences outside of the fashion interest and lacking in good documentary structure.
The untold stories and the process of the creation of the immaculate front window displays are enjoyable, but other than that the film lacks more interesting information. It is recommended for fashion junkies for the sake of seeing it, but for the film viewer that has no interest in it – will get bored more often than not.
The film includes interviews with The Olsen twins, Joan Rivers, Marc Jacobs, Giorgio Armani, Bobbi Brown, Christian Louboutin, and many others. The last word on this film in the way of admission price is not worth it if the above mentioned attributes apply. It does not provide any worthwhile information or teach its audience anything new like well crafted documentaries achieve.
“Scatter My Ashes at Bergdorf’s” is now playing in select theaters.
