Barack Obama is set to host a special White House screening of Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom, the upcoming biopic of Nelson Mandela. The movie will be presented in the exclusive screening room on Pennsylvania Avenue today, Thursday, November 7.
The biopic stars Idris Elba as Mandela and Naomie Harris as his second wife Winnie. Elba and Harris are to attend the White House screening along with Mandela’s daughters Zindzi and Zenani.
The Long Walk to Freedom is “based on South African President Nelson Mandela’s autobiography of the same name, which chronicles his early life, coming of age, education and 27 years in prison before becoming President and working to rebuild the country’s once segregated society, ” according to Rotten Tomatoes.
A screening will also be held on November 20 at the Kennedy Center hosted by Hillary Clinton.
Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom opens in theaters on November 29th.
