Anne Hathaway is set to star and produce an alien invasion comedy that made last year’s Blacklist – the annual listing of best not-yet-made screenplays – titled The Shower.
Other producers on board are her husband Adam Shulman, Andrew Lauren (Ralph Lauren’s son), D.J. Gugenheim and TiMER’s Jac Shaeffer, who also wrote the script.
“Jac has written an awesome sci-fi comedy centered around funny, fully dimensional female characters,” Hathaway said in a statement. “I feel so lucky to be a part of the team that will bring her enormously talented and fresh voice to the big screen.”
The Shower, which is described to have the tone of Seth Rogen’s This is The End meets Kristen Wiig’s Bridesmaids, begins at a baby shower that is disrupted when a meteor turns men into bloodthirsty aliens, forcing the women to team together and save the world.
The film is currently at the beginning stages, with the current crew searching for a director and other cast members, before approaching studios and finance companies.
“Anne is the perfect actor to anchor a story that is ultimately about female friendship, with a lot of ass-kicking along the way,” said Schaeffer.
Hathaway can next been seen in The Intern, which is set to hit theaters on October 2nd. Next May, the actress will be back as The White Queen in Wonderland sequel Alice Through The Looking Glass.
