Anne Hathaway and Rihanna will be joining the all-female cast for Warner Bros.’ Ocean’s Eleven franchise spinoff, according to Deadline.
With an already star-studded line up – including Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Helena Bonham Carter, Mindy Kaling and rapper/actress Awkwafina – the film, dubbed Ocean’s Ocho, has filled up seven of the eight titular spots. Rumor has it that Elizabeth Banks may take the final slot.
“This is very much an extension and a continuation,” director Gary Ross told /Film about taking the lead of the franchise from Steven Soderbergh. “We’re different filmmakers, so there will be those differences, but one of the things I’m drawn to is the amazing tone Steven was able to create, and we discuss that a lot…I’m in no way trying to reinvent the tone, and I’m thrilled and honored to be extending it. It’s really fun to work with.”
Ocean’s Ocho will be produced by director Soderbergh (Ocean’s Eleven), and penned by Ross and Olivia Milch.
