Angelina Jolie is reportedly in talks to star in TriStar’s Shoot Like a Girl – a film adaptation of Air Force Maj. Mary Jennings Hegar’s upcoming memoir, Shoot Like a Girl: One Woman’s Dramatic Fight in Afghanistan and on the Home Front.
The Afghanistan war drama tells the story of Hegar’s accomplishments, where she served three tours of duty in the Middle East as an elite rescue pilot, which earned her a Purple Heart and the Distinguished Flying Cross.
Hegar also later helped eliminate the military’s ground combat exclusion policy, which kept female officers from serving in direct combat roles.
Shoot Like a Girl – written by Frank Baldwin (current draft) – is to be produced by Nicole Brown and Hannah Minghella. It would mark as Jolie’s first on screen project since By the Sea, which she wrote and directed, and Disney’s Maleficent.
