Alec Baldwin And Rebecca Ferguson In Talks To Join ‘Mission: Impossible 5’

Actor Alec Baldwin and The White Queen star Rebecca Ferguson are both in talks to join Mission: Impossible 5 for director Christopher McQuarrie.

Plot details about the upcoming action film, penned by screenwriter Drew Pearce, are being kept under wraps. According to Variety, “sources say Baldwin’s character would be a high-ranking CIA officer who oversees Cruise’s division, similar to the role Laurence Fishburne has in Mission: Impossible III.

Jessica Chastain was originally being sought for the female lead, however it has been now taken by Ferguson, who received a Golden Globe for her debut in the title role of BBC’s drama The White Queen. The actress will play the “deadly femme fatale” opposite of Tom Cruise in the upcoming franchise.

Paula Patton and Ving Rhames are scheduled to reprise their roles from the previous films. It is believed that Jeremy Renner will return for his role as William Brandt.

Cruise is producing the film with J.J. Abrams and Skydance’s David Ellison. Production is set to start later this year, with a December 2015 release date.
