Wonder Woman 1984: Pedro Pascal is Pure Evil as Maxwell Lord

Pedro Pascal the Game of Thrones and Narcos star has been blazing a trail on the small screen as Mando in Disney’s The Mandalorian series. In Wonder Woman 1984 Pascal takes a turn towards the dark side to play the evil Maxwell Lord.

Pascal reveled in his role as the scheming businessman in Wonder Woman 1984, “Yes! it’s very very very fun to play somebody that people want to punch,” said Pascal “I kind of get a thrill out of it because all of the things that you’re not allowed to do in life, you’re allowed to do when you’re playing a villain or a bad guy.”

Pascal praised director Patty Jenkins on her unique approach to crafting a villain. “I think under the vision of Patty Jenkins, to humanize somebody that you want to punch so bad and to tell that story honestly as you can keep things unpredictable.”

The unpredictable nature of Maxwell Lord and director Patty Jenkins’ unique brand of storytelling drew Pascal to the villainous role. “That’s my favorite experience whenever I go to a movie, whenever I don’t know what to expect from a character or from the story and if it is in fact the case then I credit Patty for that completely,” added Pascal.

The immense sets of Wonder Woman 1984 proved a challenge for Pascal stating, “I didn’t expect Wonder Woman to be one of the more creatively challenging experiences that I’ve ever had especially from an acting standpoint,” said Pascal.

“It shouldn’t have been a surprise because everything that Patty (Jenkins) does has a kind of uncompromising honesty to it and really incredible performances,” added Pascal. “She gets the best out of her actors and it was almost in a way a return to the theater for me.”

Pascal concluded by gleefully expressed the joy he felt was working on the set of Wonder Woman 1984. “Just being a passenger to these enormous sets, especially in certain sequences. It felt while we were shooting it like it ends up looking in the movie, it just makes you a kid again.

Gal Gadot, Kristen Wiig, Chris Pine, and Pedro Pascal star in Wonder Woman 1984, releasing in theaters and on HBOMax, Christmas Day 2020.
