The Glass star tells us about his dream acting role and if he will cameo in the Coming to America sequel.
BackstageOL travels to NYC to sit down with Glass director M. Night Shyamalan, James McAvoy, Samuel L. Jackson, Spencer Treat Clark, Anya Taylor-Joy and Sarah Paulson in this episode with Dave Morales.
Jackson, who stars as Elijah Price in the new film (also known by his pseudonym Mr. Glass), tells us all about his role in the sequel to Shyamalan’s previous films Unbreakable (2000) and Split (2016). In the interview, Jackson was complimentary of the young director stating how Shyamalan was “always prepped.” While filming, “[Shyamalan] had a whole comic book of Unbreakable… He was very efficient and very prepared.”
When asked about his dream role, the star first denied having a specific movie role in mind, but then detailed to Morales how a “proper slasher movie” is definitely something he wants to do.
But will we be seeing Jackson rob Coming to America’s McDowells once more in the upcoming anticipated sequel? Only time will tell. In the 1988 classic film, a much younger Jackson played a robber who tried to hold up the eatery where Akeem (Eddie Murphy) and Semmi (Arsenio Hall) worked.

M. Night Shyamalan brings together the narratives of two of his standout originals—2000’s Unbreakable, from Touchstone, and 2016’s Split, from Universal—in one explosive, all-new comic-book thriller: Glass. From Unbreakable, Bruce Willis returns as David Dunn as does Samuel L. Jackson as Elijah Price, known also by his pseudonym Mr. Glass. Joining from Split are James McAvoy, reprising his role as Kevin Wendell Crumb and the multiple identities who reside within, and Anya Taylor-Joy as Casey Cooke, the only captive to survive an encounter with The Beast. Following the conclusion of Split, Glass finds Dunn pursuing Crumb’s superhuman figure of The Beast in a series of escalating encounters, while the shadowy presence of Price emerges as an orchestrator who holds secrets critical to both men.
