The 15:17 To Paris follows the events of the 2015 Thalys train attack with the real-life heroes and victims depicting themselves in the movie. August, 21 2015 started off as an ordinary day for Spencer Stone, Alex Skarlatos and Anthony Sadler as they boarded an Amsterdam-Paris commuter train to continue their backpacking trip across Europe. What occurred on that train would change their lives forever.
BackstageOL sits down with the three real-life heroes to talk about what happened on that fateful day, what caused them to act, and how director Clint Eastwood got involved it to direct a film about their lives after reading their autobiography.
The film’s synopsis:
From Clint Eastwood comes “The 15:17 to Paris,” which tells the real-life story of three men whose brave act turned them into heroes during a high-speed railway ride. In the early evening of August 21, 2015, the world watched in stunned silence as the media reported a thwarted terrorist attack on Thalys train #9364 bound for Paris—an attempt prevented by three courageous young Americans traveling through Europe. The film follows the course of the friends’ lives, from the struggles of childhood through finding their footing in life, to the series of unlikely events leading up to the attack.
