Meet Donnie Dunagan & Peter Behn: The Voices Behind BAMBI
The timeless classic Bambi is now on Blu-ray!
BackstageOL’s Dave Morales sat down with Donnie Dunagan and Peter Behn, the two voices of Bambi and Thumper in the 1942 classic Disney animation Bambi.
Bambi, the fifth animated feature to be released by Walt Disney Pictures, lands on Blu-ray in celebration of its 75th anniversary, with an array of special features that reveal never-before-seen characters, plot lines and more.
In the interview, Dunagan and Behn share how they first got involved with Bambi, their fond memories of the famous Walt Disney, and what their all-time favorite line is from the film.
“‘If you can’t say something nice, don’t say nothing at all,'” said Behn, with Dunagan echoing that this is also his favorite line.
“I use it all over the place,” added Dunagan. “That line brings twinkles to children’s eyes, and I hope it never goes away.”
The film’s synopsis:
In a classic Disney animation, a fawn named Bambi joins his new friends, a young rabbit named Thumper and a skunk kit named Flower in happily exploring the woods. Bambi is captivated with a young doe named Faline, and he learns from his doting mother and his father — the Great Prince of the Forest — that besides the delights of the forest, there is danger in open meadows where hunters can see them. Though fear and tragedy touch Bambi’s life, another spring brings renewal.
